In a surprising twist of fate, the renowned Chefs Warehouse restaurant at Maison in Franschhoek has been given a fresh lease on life, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of Seb Ackerstaff and Jessie Verdonschot, the founders of the COCOON design brand.
This exciting development comes just two months after the restaurant’s announcement of its impending closure. Seb and Jessie have taken the initiative to acquire the Maison Estate and are determined to breathe new life into the beloved establishment.
Earlier this year, Liam Tomlin and David Schneider, the previous owners of Chefs Warehouse at Maison, made the difficult decision to permanently close the restaurant.
This decision sparked an outpouring of support from loyal patrons who were determined to preserve this iconic culinary institution in Cape Town.
Seb and Jessie, long-time admirers of the estate, felt a strong desire to safeguard its legacy and the people associated with it.
Under the new ownership, Maison is set to undergo an exciting transformation. Seb and Jessie are currently devising plans to usher in a significant new chapter and revitalise the estate.
The restaurant will temporarily close later this year to undergo renovations and create a refreshed ambiance in preparation for the upcoming summer season.
Excitingly, Chefs Warehouse at Maison has opened bookings for June and July 2023. Reservations can be made through the @dineplan_app, the website, or by emailing maison@chefswarehouse.co.za.
For those eager to experience the culinary delights and warm ambiance, here are the opening hours for June and July:
