• If there’s one pit-stop that always makes my must-visit list when I’m in the Garden Route area, it’s Elvis Brew Padstal. Here, you can fill up your cup (literally and figuratively) – not only is the coffee fantastic, but the friendly faces behind the counter never fail to brighten the day.

The two-story building is filled with various interesting trinkets and souvenirs, along with the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and their famous knypkoeke (also known as jaffles). You can also treat yourself to pies, cakes, and more. The staff? They’re the cherry on top, making each visitor feel right at home.

For a long time, the Garden Route was the only area to boast an Elvis Brew. But now, Pretorians can count themselves lucky, as Elvis Brew is opening soon in their city. Christmas has come early for Pretoria residents, with November marking the opening of Elvis Brew at The Village in Hazelwood.

Jan Adriaan Hoogendyk – or Elvis Blue, as most South Africans know him – turned his dream of opening a coffee shop next to Bargain Nursery, just across from George Airport, into reality during a time when no one else would have imagined starting a new venture – the height of lockdown in 2020.

Fast-forward four years, and Elvis Blue’s venture has expanded to include an Elvis Brew coffee shop on George’s York Street and Kleine Elvis in Hartenbos. And let’s not forget the one brewing in Pretoria!
