In 2023, the V&A Waterfront and Makers Landing through their food ecosystem launched the Sustainable Seafood Festival with an excellent panel discussion which questioned what is actually meant by sustainability in seafood.
The Seafood Festival is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the many small-scale fishers working in the Waterfront, and the traders at Makers Landing. You can expect ocean-fresh seafood prepared by Makers who bring their own backgrounds and flavours to the event be it Cape Malay, African, Halal, Indian, and even Vegan.
The event is for anyone who loves food, foodies, seafood lovers, chefs and anyone simply looking for a fun experience with good food, good drinks and good music.
Sustainable Seafood Panel Discussion
Facilitated by Dr Judy Mann from the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation
- Date and time: Thursday; 21 November | 11:00 to 13:00
- Venue: Makers Landing
The purpose of the panel discussion is to explore thoughts about how to ensure that we only serve sustainable seafood, and how to preserve the environment in which they live, generally.
This year, we are following up with what promises to be an equally interesting discussion, asking our panelists – and the audience – to think about:
- What is the one thing that the VA Waterfront must do to support their food ecosystem in ensuring that they serve sustainable seafood?
- When it comes to sustainability in seafood, are we asking the right questions?
- What questions should we be asking?
- And how do we know we can trust the answers?
Our panel will consist of experts in the sustainable seafood landscape and will be facilitated by Dr Judy Mann of the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation.
