Nestled amidst rolling hills and verdant hideaways, Wellington in the Cape invites you to join in its tranquil charm.
The revitalisation of the Wellington Wine Route brings a breath of fresh air, marked by the introduction of a vibrant new identity and the first Go Wellington Family Festival. Scheduled for Thursday, 21 March, the festival marks a new chapter in Wellington’s journey.
Conveniently located just a short drive away, Wellington is a mere 55 minutes from Cape Town CBD, 40 minutes from Stellenbosch, 60 minutes from Worcester or Franschhoek, and only 30 minutes from Malmesbury. “Despite misconceptions of remoteness, Wellington stands as a hidden gem remarkably close to major urban centers,” says David Sonnenberg, Chairman of Go Wellington.
The Go Wellington Family Festival, launching alongside the official unveiling of the Go Wellington Wine Route, will be hosted at the charming Old Tannery. This historical locale, once home to the Western Tanning & Boot Company established in 1871, has been transformed into a delightful shopping district.
Visitors can look forward to sampling offerings from over a dozen members of the Go Wellington Wine Route, exploring diverse food stalls, engaging in children’s activities, and enjoying live musical performances. Ample seating arrangements will be provided under shaded umbrellas.
