The Conservatory Restaurant at the Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa in Cape Town will undergo a complete transformation in the coming months and will re-open in spring 2023 with a contemporary new look and feel. The hotel guest lounge and bar area, as well as the restaurant terrace of the historic Cellars building, will also undergo renovations.
The hotel will remain open during the renovations, but all food and beverage service will be relocated to the Greenhouse venue in the adjacent Hohenort building.

HotCocoa Interiors and Design’s Dawn Dickerson and Carmel Naudé have been tasked with redesigning the restaurant, guest lounge and bar area.
The breathtaking gardens that spread across nine acres at the foothills of Table Mountain, close to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, are one of The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa’s main features, and the new design will revolve around this, bringing ‘the gardens into the interiors’ of the hotel.
The 5-star Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa is part of the Liz McGrath Collection and is located in the historical Constantia Valley, a short 15-minute drive from Cape Town’s city centre.
A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, The Cellars-Hohenort has 51 elegant guest rooms and suites, as well as The Conservatory restaurant, which is known for taking diners on an unforgettable culinary journey. The hotel is well-known for hosting weddings and special events, as well as serving delectable picnics and decadent classic high teas.
Every room at The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel has stunning views of South Africa’s iconic Table Mountain range as well as the hotel’s extraordinary gardens.
The hotel grounds, which are part of the Liz McGrath Collection, have a rich history dating back more than 300 years when Governor Simon van der Stel awarded the property ‘Klaasenbosch’ to his physician.
Hendrik ten Damme designed a simple Cape Dutch home complete with a wine cellar, grain mill and waggon house. These original structures are still on the property today, having been restored and transformed into hotel rooms and suites.
The late Liz McGrath purchased the only Cellars building in 1991 and went on to restore its historical beauty and develop it into the 5-star hotel it is today, as a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
