• If you frequently prepare rice and are looking for a fast alternative that is both convenient and easy to use and removes the fear of overcooking. Then a countertop rice cooker is a new kitchen appliance to try out. The rice cooker provides you with the perfect fluffy grain of rice in a small amount of time giving you more time to relax and spend time with your loved ones after a long working day.

How to use your Rice cooker:

Before placing your rice grains into the cooker, make sure to read the guidelines of your preferred brand on how much rice and water to place into the cooker according to your needs.

     Step 1: Washing your rice

    • Prior to pouring your rice into the pot of the cooker, it’s very important that the rice is rinsed.
    • Once the rice has been rinsed, place it into the pot and add the stipulated amount of water. This will help to remove any excess starch.

Tip: Working with rice that has not been properly rinsed can result in your cooked rice being slimy.

Step 2: Placing the rice into the pot

    • Using a rubber utensil slowly swirl or stir your rice in the water this will help to further remove the last bit of excess. A good indicator that the starch is being removed is the water becoming cloudy.

Tip: Alternatively, you can use your hands for this process, but make sure they are properly cleaned before attempting to stir.

    • Repeat this process twice before beginning the cooking process. Once the water remains clear then the rice is ready to be cooked.

     Step 3: Cooking process

    • To start cooking your rice, add the brand guideline amount of water to your rice.
    • The pot can then be added to the cooker.
    • Add your favourite salt or spices to your rice for a burst of flavour  and close the cookers lid.
    • Once the lid is closed, press the power button of your specific rice cooker and allow it to cook.
    • The average cooking time for most rice cookers is not shorter than 15 minutes or longer than 35 minutes but be sure to check the manual of your appliance.

    Step 4: The finished product

    • Once the rice has thoroughly been cooked the cooker will send out an alert.
    • Before removing the rice from the cooker, allow the rice to settle and leave in the cooker for 10-15 minutes.

Removing the rice from the rice cooker:

    • If your cooker has a non-stick component, it is essential to ensure the protection of this layer.
    • Always use a rubber spoon to remove your rice from the cooker.

Tip: Metal or stainless spoons can cause damage to the non-stick layer.

     Cleaning the Rice cooker Pot:

    • Cleaning your rice cooker is super easy and just as convenient as the appliance itself.  Simply leave the lid of the cooker open after its use, this will help with the drying process.
    • If you can remove your pot from the cooker, then gently wash the pot with warm water and dish soap.
    • Gently remove any excess stains or debris with the cloth or sponge
    • Leave the pot to dry before placing it back into the cooker.
    • Never clean your rice cooker pot with any hard brush scrubbers.
    • If you have a dishwasher, check the manual of your rice cooker to see if it can be placed in the washer.

    Additional tips:

Using measuring cups to ensure that the right amount of rice and water is being used is a great option for excellent results every time.
