• Now that the Union Bar is back in Johannesburg, and collaborating with J&B Rare Scotch Whisky, the here-today-gone-tomorrow brand is spearheading another innovation in mixology – the Cocktail Club!

    As the name suggests, the Cocktail Club is all about mixing it up with the best in the world to get the most out of fresh ingredients and international flavours.

    But like most things at Union Bar, it comes with a twist.

    Every Thursday, at the new Union Bar situated in the Norman Goodfellows Dispatch Warehouse at 18 Chaplin Street, Illovo – between 6 pm and 7 pm – you get to pit your mojo-mixing skills against other hopefuls in joining the Cocktail Club.

    The rules are simple. They provide the ingredients. You provide the recipe that must include J&B Rare Scotch Whisky, and the winner, as decided by our panel of world-class mixologists, get to join the exclusive Cocktail Club. The winners will get ultimate bragging rights, a bottle of J&B Rare reserved and kept at the bar, their cocktail makes the menu for the following week and they are automatically invited to every Union Bar official launch, wherever they may pop up next, for the next year!

    Contestants can only enter one cocktail at a time per Thursday night, but they are more than welcome to come back the next week to try again.

    With the bar open only until 9 September 2017, amateur mixologists get only 10 chances to join the club, adding their name to a very select list of master mixers.
