Beer Country’s Beer, Food, Fire by Karl Tessendorf and Greg Gilowey (Struik Lifestyle, R297)

This rollicking, ride-along cookbook by the creators of Beer Country, South Africa’s first TV show dedicated to beer, braai and the open road, makes you want to light a fire and start chargrilling.

Finalists in the inaugural season of South Africa’s reality cooking show that celebrates our love for braaiing, The Ultimate Braai Master, these brothers-in-law have now fused their love for flaming food with their affection for brilliant beer.

They share their infectious knowledge of different types of beer as well as everything you might need to prepare for a good braai. Just the ticket to equip yourself for Family Day on 13 April.

Antoni in the Kitchen by Antoni Porowski (Bluebird, R407)

From the food and wine guru on Netflix’s sensational reality television series Queer Eye, this interesting cookbook showcases a myriad must-try meals.

Though born and raised in Montréal, Canada, Antoni holds tightly to his Polish heritage, which is reflected in the many Polish recipes in his book. But, having attended school with a diverse body of students, from Iranian and Egyptian to Portuguese, this quirky, multiculturalist chef also incorporates their cuisines.

An easy read, the cookbook is simple to follow with tips for each recipe. I’ll definitely be making the Polish caramel Easter squares (pictured), on page 244 of the book, for my family this Easter!
