• Body Beauty DIY body scrubs

    While you’re detoxing your inside, you should pay equal attention to your outside. These simple-to-make scrubs and masks are completely natural and free from anything nasty to help you to pamper and care for yourself during the detox process.

    BROWN SUGAR SCRUB

    MAKES 1 cup 

    Place a heatproof bowl over a pot of boiling water off the heat. Add 2 tablespoons coconut oil, 2 tablespoons rice bran oil and 1 tablespoon rice malt syrup; stir until combined. Remove bowl from pan; stand until cool to touch. Stir in . cup each brown sugar and white sugar. Stop there, or to fortify scrub, add 1 vitamin E oil capsule and 1 teaspoon jojoba oil and 5 drops lavender essential oil (or other essential oil). Spoon into a jar. To use, spoon out desired amount of scrub before entering shower. Massage scrub onto wet skin in a circular motion. Rinse and dry. 

     

    BUFF & GLOW COFFEE SCRUB

    MAKES  1⁄3cups 

    Place a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of boiling water off the heat. Add 2 tablespoons coconut oil and 2 tablespoons rice bran oil; stir until ingredients are combined. Remove bowl from pan; stand until cool to touch. Add 1 cup white sugar, . cup ground coffee and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. You can stop there, or to fortify scrub, add 2 vitamin E oil capsules and 5 drops pink grapefruit essential oil (or other essential oil). Spoon into a jar. To use, spoon out desired amount of scrub before entering shower. Massage scrub onto wet skin in a circular motion. 

     

    SUMMER HAIR REVIVER

    MAKES ENOUGH FOR 1 USE

    Many factors, such as salt, sun and chlorine, as well as the process of detoxing, can have an effect on the health of your locks. You can also apply this mask fortnightly over summer to add back shine and softness.

    Part One: Process . avocado and 1 small banana until smooth; add 1 teaspoon rice malt syrup and 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil; process until combined. Spoon into a small bowl. Spread mask over hair. Pile hair on top of your head and wrap your hair in plastic wrap. Leave for 15 minutes for mixture to soak in. Rinse well.

    Part Two: Fill a jug with 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar and warm water; pour through hair to remove any excess mask. 

     

    SKIN PAMPERING WHIP

    MAKES 1 1/4 cup

    Place the bowl of an electric mixer over a saucepan of boiling water off the heat. Add 150g (4.oz) cocoa butter; stir until melted. Remove bowl from heat, stir in 2 tablespoons avocado oil or sweet almond oil and 1 teaspoon arrowroot powder. Place the bowl in the fridge for 20 minutes or until oil has firmed but not solidified. Add 10 drops of your favourite essential oil (try lavender for oily skin; cedarwood or rose for dry skin and bergamot for combination skin). Blend in a high speed blender until mixture is a creamy consistency. Spoon into a small clean jar. Using a teaspoon remove a small amount of whip, massage onto parched skin, in particular dry legs, feet and elbows
