• Did you know that your daily cup of coffee can get you over the winter blues?

Coffee, over the decades, has moved from being a simple drink to an entire occasion. With invitations being sent out daily by friends, potential partners and even business colleagues to meet for a cuppa, no longer is it the early morning and after dinner drink it once was. As the weather gets colder these invitations may become fewer, but that’s no reason to stop enjoying your cuppa, as there are additional benefits to savouring it this winter.

    Winter blues

“During winter, drinking coffee can offer many health benefits that we are not aware of because what many forget is that coffee is made from a natural ingredient, the coffee bean, which contains various vitamins and minerals,” explains Matthew Dees, Jacobs Coffee senior brand manager. While it is not usually your go to healthy drink, but when it comes to the colder months, coffee can offer more than you may think.

    Benefits of coffee

It contains several useful nutrients including vitamins B2 and B3, magnesium, potassium, and antioxidants, all of which can benefit the human body in various ways. Vitamins B2 and B5 can help with coughs and colds which become more prevalent in winter. These added nutrients can also help keep you healthier during the winter months.

As winter is a time when things start to look a little gloomier, the winter blues or seasonal affective disorder (SAD) can often be experienced and challenge our mental health. A study published by Harvard found that women who drank three to four cups of coffee a day lowered their risk of depression by 20%. It can definitely help boost your mind and your body with a cup of your favourite blend.

    How it helps

During this colder and “gloomy” time, a cuppa can give you the nudge you may be looking for. Jacobs new range of cappuccinos will not only deliver on nutrients and energy, but their wide range of flavours will bring some colour to your winter days. Flavours such as Classic Cappuccino, Vanilla, Reduced Sugar, Mocha, and Choc Hazelnut will not only brighten your day but won’t add to your waistline either with less sugar included in the formula. This new range also boasts a creamier taste, giving you something delicious to indulge in while enjoying a well-deserved break.

“Consumers are looking for a coffee that not only tastes good but is also good for their health and the new cappuccino range delivers,” comments Dees.

This winter when it comes to giving your day a “sunnier” outlook and your body a boost in nutrients and vitamins, your cup of coffee could be helping you out more than you know.
