It’s no secret that many many have made the move to a plant-based diet, prompted by climate change, ethical objections, and health factors. In fact, the global vegan market is on track to be worth $15.77 billion this year, and to grow to a whopping $22.27 billion by 2025.
The Radisson CollectionTM Radisson RED®, V&A Waterfront has fully embraced the movement and revolutionised its RED menu to include a sumptuous, guilt-free, ‘Yes Ve-Gan’ Christmas Day 3-course menu which takes people on a journey of culinary delights, festively themed, and served with a lekker, local twist – the tasting will be taking place on 25th December 2021 at 12h00.
We were lucky enough to visit the Radisson RED and taste the menu ahead of Christmas Day and it was an utterly incredible experience. Chef Naseer Abdullah, Executive Chef at RED, has designed the menu to hero locally sourced ingredients. The menu is a deliciously immersive experience, with a playful take on the conventional. Chef Naseer says, “RED aims to offer the ultimate in flexibility. Whatever your lifestyle, simply plug and play! Same goes for our food. Whatever your dietary requirements may be, we’ve got something special for you. We are proud to bring a selection of plant-based options that are delicious and different.”
The Ve-Gan menu features a selection of sensational treats including fig falafels with home-made fermented chili (our absolute favourite), and coffee bread with rich pine-nut butter as starters. Next up, there’s a selection of mains including coconut broccoli with horseradish cream and walnut salsa; sticky fennel salad with potato skins and a black garlic dressing (one of Chef’s favourites!); pumpkin skins with turmeric mustard tofu; lentil quinoa bake; and creamy cashew and ‘shroom curry, with home-made cabbage pickle.
For dessert, there’s apple malva samoosas, milk tart yoghurt and a special baked tinsel treat that will leave you feeling satisfied long after the meal is over.
