• These air-fryer Chelsea buns are a must-try, especially with Easter around the corner. They’re the perfect no-fuss addition to your holiday spread.

    Air-fryer chelsea buns

    Ingredients

    • 150 grams softened butter
    • ⅓ cup brown sugar
    • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
    • 500 grams store bought bread dough
    • ¾ cup raisins and sultanas
    • ½ cup chopped pecan nuts
    • Cream cheese frosting
    • 230 grams cream cheese tub
    • 150 grams butter, softened
    • 100-150 grams icing sugar, sifted.
    • 2-4 tbsp of milk

    Instructions

    COMBINE the butter, sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl and mix well.

    LIGHTLY flour a work surface and roll bread dough into a rectangle until 1 cm thick

    SPREAD the cinnamon butter over the surface of the bread dough and top with raisins, sultanas and chopped pecan nuts

    ROLL the dough lengthways up to form a long sausage and cut into 2 cm slices.Transfer slices to the basket of the air fryer and cover with a tea towel and allow to prove for 20-30 minutes until doubled in size.

    PREHEAT the airfryer to 180ºC. Air fry the buns until golden brown for 20-25 minutes.

    Cream cheese frosting

    COMBINE all the ingredients together in a bowl and mix until combined. Make sure that the icing is spreadable, but not too runny. Adjust sweetness to your taste by adding more icing sugar if needed.

    SPREAD or drizzle the icing over the warm buns and serve.
