Classic Margarita
A classic cocktail, originally from Mexico, it’s most sublime when made with freshly squeezed lime juice (not lemon), Cointreau (not any other orange liqueur) and served cold, never frozen.
SERVES 2
INGREDIENTS
- salt, to taste
- 100ml tequila
- 50ml Cointreau
- juice of 2 freshly squeezed limes
- 4 ice cubes
METHOD
SKIM the rim of the glass with a quarter of lime (or dipping it into a shallow saucer of water), then lightly dipping the rim into a saucer of salt. Wait a few minutes before using the glasses, to allow the salt to dry.
IN a cocktail shaker or clean jar and lid, combine the tequila, Cointreau, freshly squeezed lime juice and ice cubes. Shake gently to combine.
STRAIN into 2 glasses, removing the ice cubes, and serve at once.
