Cheesy Gorgonzola, pear and sage pull-apart bread

    Serves: 4 – 6
    Cooking Time: 45 mins

    Ingredients

    • 1 large bread (we used a Portuguese loaf, but you could use a ciabatta too)
    • 1 cored pear
    • 120g butter, broken into pieces
    • handful roughly chopped sage leaves
    • salt
    • 300g chunks Gorgonzola
    • fresh sage leaves, to garnish

    Instructions

    1

Preheat the oven to 190˚C. Place 1 large bread (we used a Portuguese loaf, but you could use a ciabatta too) on a chopping board and score the bread into 3cm squares (without cutting all the way through the bread). Into the openings you have just made, arrange slices of 1 cored pear. Top the bread with 120g butter, broken into pieces and sprinkle with a handful roughly chopped sage leaves. Season well with salt, wrap the loaf in foil to make a parcel and bake, 20 minutes. Remove from oven and open the parcel. Add 300g chunks Gorgonzola to the top of the bread, pushing the chunks slightly into the slices to fill the bread. Enclose in the foil and bake, a further 5 minutes, before serving immediately. Garnish with fresh sage leaves, if desired.
