• Everyone has their own mashed potato recipe that works like a charm when it’s a “sausage and mash” kind of night.

But comedian, and now viral TikToker, @jeaux_king has shared her method for making mashed potatoes that’s sparked a bit of a debate in the comments section.

Die hard potato fans are upset about losing the potato flavour, while others are intrigued and plan to give it a try – some commenters are even sharing their own mashed potato recipes. Who knew the humble potato could be so divisive?

    A couple of honourable mentions:

    User @shell says:

See, I don’t like the flavor of mashed potatoes cooked in broth. I legit want them to taste like butter, cream, salt, pepper and potato. Thats it!😁

    While @Every1WearaMask shares:

I use yellow taters boiled in stock with the skins. Then mash with butter, sour cream, salt, & stock instead of milk. Garlic if I’m feeling it lol

    Her secret? Chicken stock.

Jourdyn Parks (@jeaux_king) learnt this secret from her grandmother and won’t be going back to plain water again.

You can take it (and even your potatoes) with a pinch of salt, but we’re sharing her top tip today.
