• We recently visited the new restaurant on the block: Urchin.

This beautiful restaurant opened just 3 months ago with a modern, classy look that’s the perfect aesthetic for a relaxed night out.

We were warmly welcomed by friendly and helpful staff who made us feel at home and excited for this unique fine dining experience.

We ordered their sushi platter – which was absolutely amazing – followed by their set three course special for only R649.

Each dish on the menu was carefully created by Chef Gerard Van Staden exclusively for our partner in great savings – Daddy’s Deals.

A Three-Course Meal and a Glass of Wine at Urchin Restaurant

For starters, we tasted the two delicious options on the menu: the margarita ceviche and the chestnut mushrooms. This was followed by a mango sorbet pallet cleanser to get us ready for the next course.

Cape Salmon Trout: Margarita ceviche with heirloom tomatoes, spring onion, bell peppers and jalapeño

There are 3 options to choose from for your main course: duck, aubergine, and kingklip. We were lucky enough to try all three!

Duck: Bock choy, soya toffee & grilled watermelon with crispy rice crackers

The food was incredible – perfectly portioned and deliciously filling. The stunning plating literally makes you eat with your eyes first.

Looking for a lighter meal before a night on the town? Take a look at their two course meal on offer for a fine-dining affair of only R499.

For dessert they treated us to a vanilla crème brulée and a decadent chocolate tart. It’s a hard choice for sure, but if you take a friend along you may be able to sample both.

Chocolate (N): Chocolate tart, flourless chocolate cake, praline, caramelised hazelnuts, berry leather and cardamom ice cream

Overall, the service was exceptional and the food was top tier. A solid 10/10! Up until the 14th of April, you can snatch up one of the divine specials here to experience the elemental flavours of the ocean for yourself.
