If you’re not informed on whether yours is still fresh or not, the end result of your baking effort could turn out a little flat.

Don’t fret if you’ve already chucked the container or package that your raising agents were sold in. There is a simple and effective way to test if your baking powder or baking soda is still good.

What you’ll need to test baking powder:

    • 1 cup boiling water
    • 2 tsp baking powder

Add the two ingredients together. If it immediately fizzes vigorously, the baking powder is still fresh.

If there is delayed and very little bubbling, your baking powder is bad.
