• This festive season, the kitchen heats up as Celebrity MasterChef South Africa debuts on SABC 3. The six-part series brings together 12 well-known South African celebrities to compete in a culinary showdown like no other. With a whopping R1 million at stake and no Instagram stories allowed, it’s guaranteed to be messy, dramatic and utterly unmissable!

    Cooking for a cause

Celebrity MasterChef isn’t just about who can whip up the tastiest dishes — it’s about heart. Each celebrity is cooking to make Christmas brighter for their chosen charity. The winner will split the R1 million prize, donating R500 000 to their charity and keeping the other half for themselves.

“We’ve got a dynamic mix of contestants from sports, entertainment and fashion. It’s different because it’s not just about the competition but also giving back,” said Justine Drake, one of the esteemed judges.

    How it works

Each episode sees three celebrities go head-to-head in a two-round battle:

    1. Quick-round challenge: Celebs transform their guilty pleasures into gourmet dishes. The winner bags R20 000 for their charity.
    2. Invention test: Creativity and technical skills are tested. Only one contestant advances to the semi-finals, while the other two are eliminated.

The final episode will crown the ultimate MasterChef, where the top two will battle it out for the coveted title and prize.
