• In a thrilling display of support for MMA fans, Tiger’s Milk will be opening its doors early on Sunday morning to catch all the action of the highly anticipated rematch between Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The popular restaurant chain will be serving breakfast from 5am at its Green Point, Bryanston and Muizenberg locations, ensuring fans can fuel up before watching the bout at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

The middleweight title clash will see South African MMA champion Dricus du Plessis facing American fighter Sean Strickland once again after du Plessis stunned Strickland with a split decision win at UFC 297 in Toronto in January of last year. Du Plessis’ victory in that fight catapulted him to prominence, but he’s far from content with just being a contender.

In 2024, du Plessis went on to defend his title by defeating Israel Adesanya in a dominant performance at UFC 305 in Perth. The fight saw du Plessis take down Adesanya before securing a chokehold that forced the Nigerian-born fighter to tap out, solidifying du Plessis as a force to be reckoned with in the middleweight division.

As the rematch with Strickland approaches, du Plessis is already looking to the future, promising that 2025 will bring even greater achievements. In a recent interview with ESPN, he reflected on the significance of the past year while expressing his drive for continued success.

‘2024 has been a massive year for me, but 2025 is going to be so much more,’ du Plessis shared. ‘The ultimate goal is to become the greatest fighter to ever walk this earth, and that’s what keeps me going. I want to defend this title, dominate the division, and eventually move up to claim another belt. That is my legacy, and that’s what I’m chasing.’

With his eyes set firmly on the future, du Plessis is determined to cement his place among MMA’s all-time greats. Fans in Cape Town, Bryanston and Muizenberg will be able to join in on the excitement by watching the rematch live and celebrating the next chapter in du Plessis’ career.

For those attending the Tigers Milk locations, the early opening hours and delicious breakfast options are sure to make for an unforgettable start to the day.
