• As we approach the festive season, the coming together of friends and family is always welcomed. Planning a potluck is a great way to host a fun gathering whilst exploring various themes and cultures through food and drinks.  

     We offer a guide on how to sufficiently plan a potluck that is sure to ease stress and ensure a good time.  

    1.) Choose a Theme:  

    Selecting a fun theme that is diverse is an excellent way to get creative and give each guest an idea of what they can bring to the potluck. We recommend choosing a theme that offers a wide selection of meals that allows for exploration: 

    Favourite childhood comfort food:  

    A great idea to share your favourite food memories with your friends and family where each guest prepares a meal, dessert or drink that they enjoyed growing up.  

    Bring a food starting with the first letter of your name:  

    Choosing foods starting with the first letter of your name is a fun activity that is sure to allow your guests to get creative for the potluck. They can dabble in trying foods and desserts from various cultures, giving each guest the opportunity to experience a diverse range of flavours and gourmet joys.  

    Finger food theme:  

    A simple yet extremely quick and easy option that is still sure to be enjoyed by everyone. The finger food theme has a wide selection of options to select from chicken strips, meatballs and sauces.

    2.) Ask for a Co-host:  

    When planning your potluck ensure that everyone invited has a specific role whether it’s sending out invites, bring decor each role is important to ensuring a fun and stress-free gathering.  A good idea is to always ask for a co-host to help out with clearing tasks.

    3.) Ensure you have enough cutlery and utensils:  

    Cutlery and utensils are essential when planning any party. Make sure that there is a set of each for every guest. Do not hesitate to ask one of your guests to bring along some extra.

    After selecting your theme, make sure to ask your guests to share their choices with you so you are able to ensure that it is catered to everyone. The food chosen should also be easy to transport.  

    5.) Select a fun playlist and plan activities:  

    There is no potluck without great music, ask your guests to send through a list of their favourite tunes and board games to enjoy on the day.
