Sometimes, it’s not possible to pack up the car and head out on a beach holiday. Luckily, if you find yourself in Durban, you can take yourself on a ‘mini-vacay’ and spend some time eating, drinking, and enjoying the sound of the waves and views of the ocean at these five beachside restaurants.
1. La Spiaggia
La Spiaggia places you as close to the ocean as it possibly can. This iconic family-style restaurant serves amazing Italian food and classics like burgers and toasted sandwiches. It’s situated right on the Umhlanga promenade, and big umbrellas are opened when the sun gets too warm.

2. Circus Circus

Whether you’ve chosen a smoothie, a simple avo on toast, or a decadent croissant, you’ll be eating your breakfast to the soundtrack of the ocean. Foam is one of Durban’s restaurants that is almost on the beach and keeps going during loadshedding (a definite win).

4. Moyos
Durban’s long Golden Mile offers numerous restaurants, coffee shops, and activities. One of these restaurants is Moyos, which is situated on a pier, so you can enjoy cocktails, get your face painted, and feel like you’re on the ocean.
