• Travellers and Johannesburg have the opportunity to unite and enjoy the arrival of The Pot Luck Club by Luke Dale Roberts at The Peech Hotel in the heart of Melrose.

Since its opening twenty years ago the boutique hotel has become a multi-award winning contemporary destination that keeps expanding and evolving into a space that offers afro-chic luxury across thirty-two rooms and suites set amid a lush of indigenous gardens.

In 2019 the hotel welcomes its fine-dining restaurant, Basalt, which has played host to many acclaimed chefs over the last five years. In January 2025 the restaurant space will welcome The Pot Luck Club where resident guests and Johannesburg locals will have the opportunity to join them for lunch and dinner. A soft refurbishment of the room will meld the look and feel of the two brands to create a stunning new dining destination in the ‘City of Gold’, while lunchtime service will spill out onto al fresco tables amid the hotel gardens.

“I’ve always been a tremendous admirer of Luke’s food, and his approach as a restaurateur and chef,” says James Peech, owner of The Peech Hotel. “Marking twenty years in business was a turning point for our family-run hotel, and we wanted to continue the evolution of what we have to offer both travellers and locals. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Luke in this next chapter of our growth.”

“We’ve loved every minute of our time in Joburg,” adds Dale Roberts, who opened The Pot Luck Club Johannesburg in Rosebank in May 2023. “This opportunity came at just the right time, the urban energy of The Pot Luck Club is a perfect fit with The Peech, which is just such a sexy, gorgeous hotel. It’s one of my favourite places in Johannesburg, and a real hidden secret in Melrose.”
