Founded in 1997, the Butchery draws on a legacy of pig farming at Joostenberg Wine Estate, dating back to 1948. Working closely with Zandam Dairy Farm, where pigs are raised on whey derived from cheese production, Klein Joostenberg ensures its pork products are rooted in quality and tradition. This whey-rich diet, combined with a stress-free environment, gives the pork its exceptional flavor.

    “Zandam pigs are whey-fed, hormone-free, and happy,” says chef Garth Bedford, co-owner at Klein Joostenberg. “Fresh pork carcasses are delivered to our butchery three times a week, ensuring we always provide our customers with the finest products.”
