Another top chunky contender, Croakies cookies, whips up the most decadent, crispy, and gooey NYC-style cookies from their online bakery in Pretoria. The two-woman team whips up 14 decadent flavours with limited-edition drops for special occasions, as Mondvol does. Thankfully, they deliver nationwide, so you can get your Croakies fix wherever you are in SA.

3. Ouma Bets Gebak (Nationwide)
While Ouma Bets Gebak offers a wide range of delicious bakes, it’s their chunky cookies series that we keep coming back for. Shineal, owner of the bakery, releases five new flavours every month, along with the offering of her classic chunky chocolate chip cookie – we love that there’s always something new to try. Nationwide delivery is another perk.

4. Gourmet Cookie Co (Nationwide and in Sunninghill, Johannesburg)
The Gourmet Cookie Co, run by a husband and wife duo, specialises in giant artisan cookies made from scratch in small batches. The couples’ cookie trade started in 2016 at their ready-meal shop in Sunninghill, Johannesburg, and has since blossomed to offer nationwide delivery of moreish cookies at their finest, in a range of 10 different flavours.

5. Bake Sale Fridays (Nationwide and in Durban)
Known for their American-style handcrafted donuts in Durban, Wicked Donuts has launched a sister company that deals in delicious ‘over the top’ stuffed cookies that are to die for – think birthday cake flavour, Nutella stuffed goodness, and walnut-ty deliciousness. Bakes can be ordered from Wicked Donuts branches in Durban North and Westville, and ordered nationwide via Bake Sale Fridays website.

6. Cookie Co (Cape Town and Johannesburg)
With bakeries in Cape Town and Johannesburg, Cookie Co, dubbed the ‘sweetest destination in town’ specialises in indulgent gourmet cookies. Their signature choc-chip cookie is a main character, and owner Sami G has developed 15 other mouthwatering flavours as ‘supporting acts’. Visit both bakeries in-store, or order to deliver in Cape Town (within a certain radius from their store in Bree St.).
