Exciting news from the SA Chefs Association: Entries are now open for the ‘Plant-Based Chef of the Year’ competition.
Taking place live at The Good Life Show from 31 May to 2 June 2024 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), this competition offers participants the chance to not only claim the title of ‘Plant-Based Chef of the Year’ in both junior and senior categories but also to vie for a spot in the 2028 Culinary Olympics.

Competition requirements:
- Submit ID, proof of SA Chefs Membership, letter of motivation, resume, and portfolio upon registration.
- All participants must be registered members of the South African Chefs Association.
- Dishes must be 100% vegan/plant-based.
- Competitors should demonstrate culinary skills, originality, and creativity.
- Good sportsmanship is expected throughout the competition.
Categories:
Competitors can enter one or more of the following categories:
- Hot Kitchen (Individuals)
- Exhibitions (Culinary Arts & Pastry Arts)
Judging criteria:
Dishes will be assessed based on taste, presentation, creativity, and adherence to the vegan/plant-based requirement. A panel of respected judges will determine the winners.
