• We all have a guilty pleasure when it comes to a delicious deep-fried dish. Whether it’s a crispy, straight out of the oil fried chicken prepared by your family for Sunday lunch, or a mouth-watering deep fried fish and chips dish during the midweek.

Cooking with cooking oil can be challenging when considering how we can dispose of the old oil after you’ve prepared your meal. One thing is for sure: never dispose of old cooking oil down your sink.

Why should you not pour cooking oil down the sink?

Pouring your cooking oil down the sink is dangerous in the long run because it will cause a build-up in the pipes and eventually begin to clog the sink.

1.) How to dispose of cooking oil in the garbage:

Prior to throwing your old cooking oil in the garbage bin, make sure that the oil has been left to cool down before placing it in a sealable plastic container or old milk bottle. Make sure the bottle is tightly sealed before placing it in the bin.

    2.) Restaurants and shopping malls:

If there is a restaurant or grocery shop near your home, find out if they have a hazardous waste disposal service and if you can bring your old cooking oil for them to safely dispose of.

    3.) Local recycling area:

Contact your local recycling area and ask them if they have a vegetable oil tank and if you can dispose of old cooking oil at the facility. This is a great option if you are trying to throw away large quantities.
