• Childhood cancer affects families worldwide, especially in low- and middle-income countries where access to adequate care is often limited. In South Africa, despite the presence of established oncology healthcare services, the battle against childhood cancer remains a pressing concern. However, amidst these challenges, a beacon of hope shines through: Cupcakes of Hope (COH).

As we step into International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and approach National Cupcake Day on September 30, COH invites all South Africans to participate in the “Bake Hope, Sprinkle Joy” movement. This initiative carries a singular mission – to meet the financial and emotional needs of children with cancer and their families.

COH’s manifesto centers around the belief in the transformative power of a single cupcake. Behind each cupcake lies a story of courage and resilience, radiating love and support in the face of cancer’s darkness. It’s not just about baking; it’s a call to action, an invitation to unite for a common cause.

In 2023, COH challenges South Africans of all generations to host their own “Party of HOPE” during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. There are two simple ways to get involved:

    Host a Party of HOPE:

    • Register your fundraiser on the COH website.
    • Spread the word among friends, family, neighbors, or colleagues.
    • Bake 24 or 48 cupcakes and collect funds.
    • Donate the proceeds to Cupcakes of Hope.

Join National Cupcake Day on September 30:

    • Pledge your contributions by September 23.
    • Bake 24 or 48 cupcakes.
    • Deliver your creations to any of the 60 participating malls on National Cupcake Day.
