• Lipton has sent iced tea lovers into a spiral with an early April Fool’s prank that was anything but peachy. On Tuesday, 18 March, the beverage brand took to Instagram with a shocking announcement: their beloved peach-flavoured iced tea was being discontinued.

Dramatically captioned “Rest in peach,” the post assured fans that while the flavour was bowing out, it might make a legendary return one day. “We appreciate your understanding during this period of adjustment and apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the statement read.

Naturally, the internet did what it does best — descended into full-blown panic.

But just a day later, Lipton came clean. The entire announcement had been an early April Fool’s joke. Peach iced tea wasn’t going anywhere.

“I’d never take away your favourite flavour, pookies,” Lipton reassured followers in a follow-up post. The brand also teased a surprise for the most dramatic reactions to the fake discontinuation — because if you’re going to cry over iced tea, you might as well get rewarded for it.

Crisis averted. Now, who else needs a moment to recover?
