• The annual World Culinary Awards ceremony took place in Dubai this year, where several South African restaurants earned multiple prestigious awards. 

    Cape Town named Africa’s best culinary city  

    South Africa’s has been noted to provide of the best culinary experiences on the continent with the city of Cape Town providing a diverse range of mouth-watering cultural gourmet cuisines from across the globe.  

    South Africa is renowned for offering some of the best culinary experiences on the continent, with Cape Town showcasing a diverse array of mouth-watering gourmet cuisines from around the world. 

    The vibrant city has been awarded the title of Africa’s Best Culinary City destination at this year’s World Culinary Awards for the second time. This prestigious award gives recognition and praise to the hard work and excellence from the international culinary industry.  

    Director of the World Culinary Awards, Rina van Staden expressed that winners of the World Culinary awards show an unwavering passion, to their craft through creativity their visions and commitment bring utmost joy to millions of people daily making them a true inspiration to all.

    A list of this year’s winners:  

    Salsify at the Roadhouse was awarded Africa’s best landmark restaurant . Executive chef and co-owner Ryan Cole expressed his gratitude in a social media post to his team: “We are fortunate enough to work from one of the most incredible locations in Cape Town- between land and sea. I am incredibly proud of my team, and grateful for the acknowledgement.”

    Cape Town’s SALON restaurant established in April 2023 by Dale- Roberts took home the award for Best New Restaurant. Dale expressed his appreciation for the award on Instagram: “Receiving this recognition is a testament to our passionate team and our commitment to pushing culinary boundaries.”

    Siba Mtongana’s, SIBA the restaurant was awarded Africa’s Best Fine Dining Hotel restaurant at this years 2024 awards. She took to social media to thank her loved ones and exceptional team: “Thank you so much fam for all the love and support, and thank you to the global panel of judges for the nod and the incredible honour and recoginition.”
