• As Mandela Day approaches, the spirit of giving and community service comes alive. It’s a time to reflect on Nelson Mandela’s legacy of compassion and action, and what better way to honour him than by giving back to those in need?

67 Minutes has proved year after year to make an incredible impact for those in need, but with so many people, charities, and communities who could use a hand in our country, it can be difficult to decide on where to start.

Here’s how you can get involved by donating food or volunteering your time!

Where to participate with food donations and volunteering for Mandela Day:

The #Unionagainsthunger: SA Harvest’s Mandela Month campaign to deliver 1 million meals

SA Harvest, a leading food rescue organisation, has launched its Mandela Month Campaign through its advocacy arm, #UnionAgainstHunger. The campaign aims to commemorate Nelson Mandela’s lifelong dedication to human rights and social justice by spotlighting the ongoing challenge of hunger in South Africa and rallying efforts to combat it.

“In recognition of Mandela Day, we urge everyone – food donors, partners, corporations, and the South African public – to stand with us in our mission by pledging a symbolic donation representing Mandela’s 67 years of service,” said Alan Browde, CEO and founder of SA Harvest.

    Rise Against Hunger Africa

This year, Rise Against Hunger Africa is organising several national events in honor of Nelson Mandela’s legacy. These events provide corporate volunteers with the opportunity to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to pack nutritious meals. Corporates are encouraged to support this initiative by sponsoring teams of 12 to 18 staff members with a donation of R12,500.

The meals packed during these events will benefit Early Childhood Development centers supported by RAH Africa. Through the ECD Connect programme, these meals help ensure that thousands of children receive proper nutrition crucial to their educational development.

Registration forms for each event location are available confirming dates and venues. If you have a venue to offer for these events, please reach out, they’d love to hear from you.
