• Two-ingredient bagels

It’s as easy as 1, 2… That’s it! For mouth-watering, homemade bagels, try this simple recipe.

Usually, bagels are boiled in water before they are baked, which gives them their unique flavour and texture. But, this recipe skips the boiling step but still delivers a delicious flavour and a smooth texture.

Bagels have become a staple of many breakfast menus and are often eaten as a quick and satisfying snack.

    INGREDIENTS

    • 3 Cups of Plain Yogurt
    • 4 Cups of Self Raising Flour

Pro Tip: It’s so easy to change this recipe to fit a gluten-free diet. Just place the flour with gluten free self-raising flour. The texture and tase will not alter.

    METHOD

Combine both ingredients. You might need to add more flour if the dough mixture is too wet.

Mix the dough but no kneading is required.

Once a tacky dough is formed, separate the dough into smaller balls.

Roll out each ball into a cylinder/pipe shape.

Attach the two ends of the pipe and tie it into a knot – creating the hole in the center.

Brush with milk or an egg wash to allow the bagels to turn golden brown in the oven.

You can sprinkle with bagel spice, Himalayan salt crystals or sesame seeds

Pop in the oven at 200 degrees for 25-35mins until soft yet crispy and golden

FOOD TEAM TIP: Once your bagels are ready, these dense, chewy textured rounds with a distinctive hole in the centre can be served plain, or with a variety of fillings of your choosing. Our favourites include salmon and cream cheese or a breakfast filling of bacon and scrambled egg.
